Russia slams Washington for “raising the spirits” of terrorists in Syria

During his remarks to the Security Council on Friday, Russia’s deputy United Nations ambassador Vladimir Safronkov said that the US was “afraid of a real, genuine independent investigation” into the sarin gas attack in Idlib province on Tuesday.
He accused the US, UK and France of plotting regime change in Syria, and avoiding an impartial investigation that would likely contradict their “anti-government paradigm”.
Russia’s UN representative noted that the US missile strikes in Syria have “raised the spirits” of terrorists operating in the country.
Safronkov said during a Security Council meeting on Wednesday that the West’s “obsession with regime change is what hinders this Security Council.”
